About Quiz Toolkit
Live quizzes, without the complicated setup.
Quiz Toolkit helps you run quizzes for friends, family, classrooms, pubs and events. Build your rounds, show questions on a shared screen, and manage answers, scores and buzzers from your host controls. Players join in their browser from their phones or laptops, with no app download or account required. Your data is private and remains locally in your browser. You can easity export and import your quiz file for sharing with others.
Built for live quizzing
Quiz Toolkit provides a dual screen mode, letting you project your quiz on a display for a live audience for an in-person event, or online using screensharing with the video conferencing platform of your choice (like Zoom, Meet, Teams, etc.). As quizmaster, you can control the entire quiz either via the same single screen, or using your laptop or phone as a remote.
Presentation Screen
Project questions, category or jeopardy style boards, media clips, and timers on a TV, projector, or second monitor. As quizmaster, you can control the entire quiz from the presentation screen directly.
Quizmaster Remote
Alternately, run the quiz from a second screen on your laptop or from your phone as a "remote controller". View verified answers, review real-time buzzer queues, manage team scores, trigger fun audio cues, and control the flow without viewing experience of your audience.
Choose how teams play
Configure Board and List rounds tailored to your event format, paired with buzzer, turn-based, and all-play modes.
- Board & List Round Formats: Run Jeopardy-style board rounds with categorized point values and bonus tiles, or fast-paced list rounds with sequential questions.
- Buzzer Mode: Transform players' smartphones into live buzzers. Lockout ranking determines who buzzed first with server-arbitrated precision.
- Turn-Based Mode: Direct questions to specific teams in order, with optional bounce-back opportunities if a team misses an answer.
- All-Play & Flexible Answer Methods: Allow all teams to submit answers simultaneously using verbal, multiple choice, numerical, or free-text input formats. Their phones double up as buzzers or answerpads.
Bring your own questions
Author custom quizzes, import spreadsheets as csv or directly from Google Sheets, and keep your quiz packs portable across any device, all without needing an account, subscription or cloud storage on this website.
- Visual Quiz Designer: Build categories, questions, hints, scoring rules, and theme styles directly inside the browser. Craft your visual experience using light/dark mode, custom logo, and backgrounds.
- Google Sheets & CSV Importer: Import questions and rounds from Google Sheets spreadsheets or CSV files using standard column headers.
- Rich Media Clips: Pair questions with images, audio cues, or YouTube videos/audio with custom start and end timestamps. Control the media play directly from your quizmaster controls.
- Full File Portability: Export complete quiz packs as ZIP files (including bundled images and audio) or lightweight CSVs to share or backup anytime.
Understand where your data goes
Local-first and Privacy-first with clear boundaries. Your quiz library and quiz data is saved in browser storage on this device. It will get deleted if you clear your browser cache or run in incognito mode. You can export your quiz to keep a local copy or to move quizzes between devices and sharing with others. Remote buzzers, player answers and phone controls use a network relay to connect devices and hence require a limited server interaction. Google Sheets imports and externally hosted media also require network access are accessed from the respective third party servers where they are hosted. No quiz data is stored on this website's servers
